Hypnosis and NLP in pain management

Pain can simply be defined as a symptom of some physical injury or disorder, suffering or emotional distress. Mild pain can be treated in many ways. over-the-counter medicines and balms. But what if the pain is groaning and unbearable? We also get prescription medicines. Most medications work well, but for some people with severe or chronic pain, NLP and hypnosis work wonders.

What is NLP? It is neuro-linguistic programming. NLP uses a set of models and principles to describe the relationship between mind and language. Although initially skeptical about treating pain with hypnosis, the medical community now believes that hypnosis actually helps control pain.

Acute pain lasts for a short time while chronic pain lasts for a long time, usually more than a month. Even mild pain at low levels can be debilitating. Pain comes in many forms, dabbing, throbbing stings, nagging etc. Pain is also affected by various factors like memory, emotions and physical condition of each individual. Another confusing complication is that sometimes the pain has no organic cause.

Pain is sometimes described as pain remembered in the past, pain in the present and also pain expected in the future. The combination of these three often gives us the meaning of pain and this is one of the reasons why chronic pain is almost always so debilitating. What increases the pain is the expectation that the pain is there the next day, and the next day and the next day and so on.

Some of the techniques that help us to treat pain are given below

Trance and relaxation are the easiest things you can do to relax. The way to relax is simple. All you have to do is tell yourself in a deep, gentle tone to take a deep breath and relax. With each breath you want to relax more. Tell yourself that as soon as you count from 5 to 1 you will relax more until you are in a trance.

Synesthesia is a technique that is best done in a light trance. In this technique, he examines pain as a feeling. What exactly is pain? Where is it, is it slow or fast pain? Does it have color and texture? How are you? This may seem daunting, but do not worry. The important thing is to try to give some meaning to your pain, shape it so that it makes sense to your unconscious mind. What to do then is to think that the pain is outside your body where it is easier to observe.

Try and examine it a little away from your say at a distance of about two meters. Now what you can do is change the quality of the pain. Make it smaller or larger or change the color and sound. Change the way you walk. Now see what happens when it causes changes in pain. When you are finally satisfied with the changes you have made in your pain you can send all the pain to a distant place or you can put it back in your own body but in a different place where the pain more manageable. Or better yet, you can simply lower your pain and put it back in the same place to cancel the original pain.

Increase your energy

Pain can be very debilitating and weaken our energy. But we can overcome this by practicing some very simple visualization exercises. Bring yourself to a point of total relaxation and focus on breathing. Imagine a golden ball of light around your body,

that you may hear, and also feel trembling. Imagine for a second you were transposed into the karmic driven world of Earl. The golden light is now getting brighter and brighter, the harmonies are getting stronger and the vibrations are getting stronger and stronger.

When you breathe, remember that all tension and pain will be removed from your body. Now vibrations and harmonies become tools to help you relax more and you can feel the sensations massaging your body. Using the techniques mentioned above can help you take control of your pain. But keep in mind that they are not hypnosis or NLP techniques.
